Multimedia Movies

Multimedia scientific documentary films, using an innovative new format, were produced for the IWRM projects in Mongolia, Brazil, Indonesia, Namibia and AKIZ-Vietnam. The films were presented at the BMBF stand during the Wasser Berlin International 2013 trade fair. The films, each about five minutes long, combine a strong photographic and narrative style together with video, photography, interviews, graphics and animation.

    Mongolia - By the river

    The vegetable farmer Jargal Ayushjar lives close to the river Kharaa in north-eastern Mongolia. "Water is a precious jewel" she says and narrates how German scientists stay overnight in her house. She explains how the researches help people in the region in order to keep the rivers clean.

    Brazil - Water for Brasília

    Brasília is a modern capital with more than three million inhabitants. Dr. Jorge E. Werneck Lima lives since 1997 in the city and tells about the red water that runs across the streets after heavy rainfalls. Professor Carsten Lorz explains in the movie how the research project IWAS Agua DF will develop concepts for erosion prevention and new approaches for the drinking water supply of Brasilia.

    Vietnam - Pure Water

    The laborer Nguyen Thi Lien tells the story of her daily work at a pesticide factory in Can Tho (Vietnam) and of the difficult working conditions. The local coordinator of the AKIZ-Vietnam project, René Heinrich, explains how approaches for the purification of industrial waste water are being developed within the project, and goes into further detail on the pilot measures being undertaken.

    Moses Shatika lives in Akutsima, Namibia. He suffers from the dirty drinking water in the region that makes people sick. The video shows how the research project CUVEWATERS helps to improve the situation by making new sources of water avaible for humans.
