IWRM China: Task force meeting and monitoring

On June 14th and 15th, a task force meeting for the joint project „ Overall-effective measures for sustainable water resources management in the coastal area of Shandong Province, PR China“ (IWRM China) was held in Berlin, with a group of ten Chinese project partners participating. Following reports from Chinese and German sides on the project status were lively discussions on future scenarios of socio-economic developments, as well as on the interactive water balance introduced and on the pilot projects.

Another focus was on the progress made with the groundwater monitoring during a recent working stay in the project area – including testing of a newly developed sampling device and the construction of two (of totally three) planned multi level quality measurement points. Here, quality parameters will be automatically measured and the data radio transmitted to the internet. In the framework of a working stay of five weeks following the meeting, Chinese project coordinator Prof. Zhang Baoxiang was offered an extensive program by IÖW (Institute for Ecological Economy Research) as the coordinator of his stay. It included various technical exchanges, visits to related institutions, and project relevant activities.
